Ford Lock Removal:
To unlock a Ford gum machine, when you do not have the key, follow these instructions;
Locate the top of the locking mechanism in the rear of the machine.
Using a needle nose pliers, uncurl the top of the locking bar so that it is straight.
Then the lock will fall out of the bottom of the machine. Hold the machine together so that the globe does not tip and spill any gum contained inside.
The locking bar can then be removed by turning it 90 degrees. The lock by itself will look like this.
Then take a punch and remove the pin holding the back of the lock in place.
When the pin has been removed the inside of the lock can be removed. Take out the little brass wafers inside the lock and then reassemble.
You can rebend the end of the lock retainer. It doesn't need to be a curl, it can be a straight 90 degree angle.
Now the lock can be unlocked or locked with just a screwdriver. A quarter-turn is all that is necessary. It does not screw onto the lock retainer.
